1. Never Give up! It may sound cliched, but it’s not as bad as it seems. You learn more from... being runner up than queen. I lost every pageant for my first year, and then won phenomenally. You just have to find your right fit.

1. Never Give up! It may sound cliched, but it’s not as bad as it seems. You learn more from... being runner up than queen. I lost every pageant for my first year, and then won phenomenally. You just have to find your right fit.
2. ALWAYS attend the mixer.Getting to know your pageant sisters is one of the best parts of any part of any pageant. You may be nervous, but, secretly so are they. Plus, sometimes even free food. Like I said that connection with your pageant sisters is useful. You never know who will lend you that extra last minute bobby pin backstage.
3. It will fit, don’t panic. I have helped stitch a girl into her beauty gown before, and she rocked the runway, it’s all right.
4. Don’t be afraid to be yourself! The judges L-O-V-E unique answers! Hearing “World peace!” 50 times is dull! Don’t forget the pageant brand though, and remember to keep your sisters in a positive light!
5. Always play to your strong suits. If you have taken 5 years of gymnastics, then don’t try to sing the national anthem for talent. Take advantage of the skills you have. Do a routine to display how talented you are. Don’t think you have a talent? Look at last years Miss America contest talent portion! anything can be a talent with a little creativity!
6. No matter what, your pageant sister have your back! At my first pageant, I was TERRIFIED!!! But at the pj party I met 3 girls, whom I am still best friends with today. We have lent each other dresses, split hotel rooms, carpooled to pageants, and done each others hair and makeup. My pageant sisters are my best friends now and they always will be. Not to mention the countless hours of volunteer hours we have done together.
7. Eyes are ALWAYS on you! This is something that applies in not only pageantry, but in everyday life. Even when your crown is not on your head, you are still a representative for your system, and must set an example for those around you. With today’s technology, one little slip isn’t so little any more. One bad social media post can ruin a girl’s reputation.
8. Practice makes perfect! I know, another cliche, but it is true! With hard work and routine practice (with plenty of ice cream breaks!) you can improve anything!
9. Self Confidence! I cannot push this enough. Lack of confidence has been the downfall of many a girl in pageantry. Just remember that you have practiced and going to do wonderful. At my first pageant I cried backstage until I had to go on and nw I do Public speaking and run my own non for profit.
10. Don’t forget to have fun! I know I made it sound like all work and no play, but pageants are fun! You get so many new experiences and friends out of it! So don’t be afraid to get out there and enjoy pageantry. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
